This beautiful Galle type vase is made of multi-layered cameo glass in shades of yellow and dark red. The poppies are skillfully etched into the layers of glass as if part of a landscape seen through a conically-shaped window frame. The base and mouth of the vase feature a dark brown shade with a lace pattern, creating contrast and depth. The perfect choice for elegant, long-stemmed flower arrangements.

During the reign of Carol the 1st of Romania, the Royal Manufacture’s chief glassmaker sent his son-in law, Emerico Montesy, to study the art of the glass at the renowned École de Nancy in the Galle and Daum Freres workshops during 1921-1923. At his return in Romania, Montesy became the Artistic Director of the Azuga Glass Factory and started conceiving his own glass pieces using the new learned techniques. Ever since then, the Romanian glass craftsmen kept and improved the original Galle techniques, the pieces produced in their workshops still carrying the unique charisma, the brilliant decors and an uncompromised quality of execution.
